It turns out that you really can get anything money can buy at Wal-Mart, even a male prostitute. In a recent blog post, I explained that America’s Wal-Marts have a higher crime rate per square yard than even places like Allison Hill, North Philly or Camden. This is because Wal-Mart sees so many retail thefts, bad checks, ftheft by deception, fraudulent credit card transactions and the like. Yet, I have to admit, even I, as a jaded veteran of the criminal justice system, was a bit surprised to learn that male prostitute was operating out of the Wal-Mart in Queensbury, New York.
Bearing a striking resemblance to the fictional Kip Dynamite, 22 year old Foster Bills does not exactly look like a prostitute. If anything, he looks like the type of shy, bespectacled, geeky, video-game obsessed guy one would feel sorry for because prostitutes are his only option. But of course, looks can be deceiving. Bills allegedly used the M4M section of Craig’s List to find men willing to give a “22 year old guy a little extra spending money.” Why he chose to meet for “dates” in the less than romantic Wal-Mart bathrooms is unclear.
Fortunately for Bills, his attorney was able to work out a plea agreement whereby Bills was able to plead guilty to disorderly conduct rather than prostitution. Although prostitution is generally a low level misdemeanor in most states, including Pennsylvania, it is one of those charges which carries social stigma far out of proportion to the grading of the offense. Needless to say, it is a lot easier for a potential employer to overlook a disorderly conduct charge than a prostitution charge.
